The Body of Christ

A little piece of liturgical prayer I put together last week. It’s really my first attempt at it so here it goes.

The body of Christ has gathered.

Eyes and Ears.

Hands and Feet.

Head and Heart.

Bones and Ligaments.

In all our differences, appearances, functions,

The body of Christ has gathered.

We are the embodiment of Christ to the world.

We put on display the life, death, and resurrection of Christ.

May our hands be Your hands, to feed the hungry.

May our hearts be Your heart, to care for the widows and the orphans.

May our feet be Your feet, to share the good news of the new humanity.

May our eyes be Your eyes, to see the oppression and injustice in the world.

May our ears be Your ears, to hear the cry of your people.

May our body be a representative of You.

May we be the body of Christ.

Amen.

Superb, and all the more so given it’s your first attempt. I’d say you are 1 for 1, with a triple at least, and quite possibly a home run!
